My Journey Inside the 2020 Presidential Campaign of Bernie Sanders
One year ago, I attended Bernie’s rally in Queensbridge. It was there I connected with one of the campaign’s staffers. Three weeks later, the head of Bernie’s National Advance team reached out to interview me over the phone. I was fortunate enough to receive a job offer and soon hit the campaign trail alongside an amazing team of American Revolutionaries - completely through my own merit and grit.
As we speak, job and wage losses (including the gender pay gap) are worsening due to the economic crisis. Ideas like Medicare for All, a Green New Deal & Universal Basic Income (UBI) are much bigger than a single candidate. This is part of a much larger grassroots movement. We must carry the torch of progressive ideas.
During this crisis, the government cheated the working class again. The media refuses to cover the fact that there are more billionaires on Wall Street now than prior to the pandemic. They refuse to cover the fact that the richest U.S. corporations are getting away with paying nothing in taxes. The $2 trillion CARES Act has cemented wealth and income inequality for a generation. We must have class solidarity. In the words of the great George Carlin, "It's a big club and you ain't in it." #NotMeUs ✊
